What positive controls should I use in my qPCR experiments?

Exogenous positive control

External DNA or RNA carrying a target of interest. These control reactions will alert you to any components in the sample that might inhibit reverse transcription and/or PCR.  IDT synthesizes Minigenes and Ultramers which can serve the role of an exogenous positive control.

Endogenous positive contro

A native target that is present in the experimental sample of interest and can serve as a normalizer among samples. These control reactions will correct for quantity and quality differences between samples.
