IDT’s manufacturing facility in Singapore, IDT Pte. Ltd. (“PTE”), recently earned an accreditation for promoting workplace health and safety practices. The 5-level accreditation program, bizSAFE, is an initiative developed by the local government to encourage enterprises to build up their workplace health and safety capabilities.
The program starts at bizSAFE Level 1, with the highest accreditation being bizSAFE STAR status. To be bizSAFE accredited, an organization must show commitment to the Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) Act (Singapore) and also establish good risk management and WSH management systems.
PTE earned initial accreditation in July 2013 and achieved Level 3 status within a year. We are working to attain Level 4 status by the end of 2014.
“This bizSAFE certification is recognition that our facility has in place sound and effective protocols to manage risks. It aligns with our core business strategy and legal responsibility of ensuring a safe and healthy workplace, not only for our employees, but also our business partners and customers. We aim to achieve bizSAFE STAR status within the next three years,” said Mr Kok Choy “KC” Lee, General Manager, PTE.
