IDT and Illumina (ILMN) indexes are 8- or 10-base sequences used to tag the DNA fragments of each sample library so that when DNA library samples are pooled and sequenced together (i.e., multiplexed) on the same instrument flow cell or chip, individual sequence reads can be assigned to the correct sample. This “de-multiplexing” is done during data analysis.
You can include IDT 8, IDT 10, ILMN 8, or ILMN 10 indexes in your Custom NGS Adapter designs. The sequences for the IDT8, IDT 10, and ILMN 8 indexes will be provided once your order has been placed. You can also access these index sequence files on the Resources tab of the Custom NGS Adapters product page or the Custom Adapter Configurator tool.
